TORP Wheelie Control on electric dirt bike with TC500 or TC1000 2.X controller

TORP Wheelie Control Now Available for 2.X Controllers

TORP has released one of the most anticipated features for its latest-generation controllers: Wheelie Control is now available in beta for TORP 2.X controllers on all supported Surron and Talaria electric dirt bikes.

The new system gives riders another level of control when bringing the front wheel up. Choose your target wheelie angle, fine-tune how the system responds, and use TORP's new Soft Landing feature for a more controlled return to two wheels.

For existing TC500 2.X and TC1000 2.X owners, Wheelie Control arrives through a firmware update — adding an entirely new riding feature without another hardware upgrade.

What Is TORP Wheelie Control?

Wheelie Control uses the built-in motion sensor in TORP's 2.X controllers to monitor the bike's pitch angle and adjust motor power around the target angle selected by the rider.

You still control the throttle and brakes. Wheelie Control works in the background to help make the bike's response more predictable as you approach and maintain the selected angle.

The system gives riders three primary adjustments:

  • Target Angle — Select the wheelie angle you want the system to maintain.
  • Aggressiveness — Fine-tune how quickly and strongly Wheelie Control responds.
  • Soft Landing — Helps provide a smoother, more controlled return of the front wheel to the ground.

That makes Wheelie Control more than a simple limiter. Riders can adjust the behavior around their bike, setup and riding style instead of being locked into a single response.

Soft Landing Adds More Control

TORP has also introduced Soft Landing as part of the new system.

As the wheelie ends, Soft Landing keeps a small amount of power applied while the front wheel comes back down, helping reduce the abrupt drop that can happen when power is cut completely.

Riders can select Off, Low, Medium or High depending on how much assistance they want during the landing.

Built Through Dyno and Real-World Testing

Wheelie Control has been in development for months. TORP says the system was shaped through a combination of dyno development, physics-based simulation, live telemetry and real-world testing across different bikes and setups.

That development process is especially important for a feature like this. Wheelie behavior changes with bike weight, gearing, battery setup, motor output and rider input, so the system has to do more than react to a single preset angle.

How to Get TORP Wheelie Control

Wheelie Control is currently available as a beta firmware feature.

To access it, update the TORP App and go to:

Info → Firmware Update → Include Beta

Then update your TORP controller to the latest beta firmware.

Once updated, Wheelie Control can be found inside the TORP App under Settings → Peripherals → Wheelie Control.

TORP Wheelie Control tilt calibration in the TORP App

The first time Wheelie Control is enabled, the app guides the rider through calibration so the system can correctly measure the bike's position and speed.

TORP's current requirements are a TC500 or TC1000 hardware version 2.0 or newer, controller firmware 1.17 or newer, and TORP App version 2.1 or newer.

Live Wheelie Information in the TORP App

The TORP App also gives riders live information about the bike while Wheelie Control is active, including its current pitch relative to the selected target angle.

The TORP Display or TORP IPS Color Display is also highly recommended. TORP specifically recommends using a display so riders can clearly see which riding mode is active without relying on a phone while riding.

Another Major Upgrade for TORP 2.X Controllers

Aftermarket controllers are usually compared by peak power, phase current, motor compatibility and battery support. Wheelie Control adds another dimension to the latest TORP platform.

Because the required hardware is already built into TORP 2.X controllers, new riding features can be added through software and firmware development after the controller is installed.

For current TC500 2.X and TC1000 2.X owners, Wheelie Control adds a substantial new feature to the controller they already have. For riders considering a controller upgrade, it gives the latest TORP platform another capability beyond simply increasing power.
